Overview

What is a Water Treatment Plant?

Raw water from rivers, canals, dams and borewells contains suspended solids, turbidity, colour, iron, hardness and microorganisms. Used untreated, it causes scaling in heat exchangers and cooling towers, fouls equipment, disrupts fermentation and raises maintenance costs.

A Water Treatment Plant (WTP) removes these impurities through physical, chemical and disinfection stages, producing water that meets the quality required for each use. SBS Water & Infra Projects Pvt. Ltd. designs, manufactures, installs and commissions WTPs built around the client's source water, flow and end-use requirements.

  • Consistent water quality through every season
  • Protection against scaling and fouling
  • Water for process, cooling, utilities and drinking

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What is a Water Treatment Plant?

A Water Treatment Plant (WTP) treats raw water from rivers, canals, lakes or borewells to remove turbidity, suspended solids, hardness, colour, odour and microorganisms, making it suitable for process, utility or drinking use.

Which raw water sources can you treat?

We design WTPs for surface water (river, canal, dam, lake), groundwater (borewell) and recovered water such as polished condensate. The scheme is chosen after analysing the source water.

What is an HRSCC and why use it?

A High Rate Solids Contact Clarifier combines flocculation and settling in a compact unit. It handles high turbidity, especially during monsoon, with a smaller footprint than conventional clarifiers.

Can treated water be used for boilers?

WTP-treated and softened water suits cooling towers and general process use. For boiler feed, we add Reverse Osmosis and/or Demineralization (DM) stages to reach the required purity.

Can CPU-treated condensate be fed to the WTP?

Yes. Several of our projects combine a CPU with a WTP, so recovered condensate supplements raw water and reduces freshwater drawal.

Do you upgrade existing WTPs?

Yes. We troubleshoot, debottleneck and revamp existing WTPs, including filter media replacement, clarifier upgrades, capacity enhancement and adding softening or disinfection stages.
